Furans Ninja Gaiden II ReviewIll try not to fall into my utter hardcore geekyness and ubber fan of the series (since 1988) as I write this review cause well, as in every game there are some flaws that even a hardcore fangirl like myself can see. Now I have finished the game in about 8 hours/5 days on Acolyte Mode, I tried to skip Acolyte
since Im no rookie on this IM A VETERAN BABY!! But either way I got my ass handed down to me on Warrior so I had quite the challenge on Chap 12 so
I had to go back to rookie mode.

Lets just say this game is literally amazing and I can hardly take my hands off of it. Now, here goes something!
The GraphicsOther than shouting
SCREW YOU NINJA GAIDEN SIGMA NGII LOOKS BETTER THAN YOU!!, the graphics are smooth and very crisp, some minor flaws show on the water that Hayabusa has no reflection and some huge blood splatters on thin blocks that well
the blood literally is there, half on the pipe half on the air show when you make a clean kill. The movements are very fast paced, damn; I can hardly keep up when Hayabusa is doing some Ultimate Technique combos. But its very crisp and shiny and there is a balance of lights and darks. Its not a very dark game
unlike Ninja Gaiden Black. There was some serious slow-mo on a later chapter that they literally send you over 50 AT THE SAME TIME and well, too much shit happening at once made Hayabusas combos slow-mo (but it was cool so I didnt complain I just started laughing). But thats all theres to it in that specific part. I also noticed that Sigma was like a practice for this game, so I had to take that into consideration.
Graphics in my book are 9/10.
The Camera
I read a lot of reviews about all the people that literally cursed the camera for this. I can explain. For the camera thing; its done fairly well, the thing that makes it bitchy is that HAYABUSA MOVES SO DAMN FING FAST that you dont even know what to look first: look for Hayabusa or the enemy that you just disemboweled. The Ultimate Techniques [UT] combo and the Obliteration Techniques [OT] makes this camera even iffier. I actually lost myself in an UT than in the OT and I got some serious damage when I was looking for Hayabusa as 7 monsters jumped on top of me, plus the bloody mess he leaves behind as Im hacking and slashing and whatnot. The camera looks to where YOU want it to look and it moves as you move and as you do the OT and the UT. I seriously dont have any problems with the camera, maybe because I got used to the lack of good camera in NGBlack. Nuff said. But the instant point of view button actually does wonders. I guess those who dislike the camera are noobs or MMRPGs/RPGs veterans CAUSE THOSE CAMERAS ARE STILL! Retards (lol joking

artially)
fufufufu
Camera in my book is 8/10.
The Music & SFXDear God HOW BORING the music IS!!!! I had to do a
Mix Music USB in order to play it!!! Some BG music are soft and/or they really dont bring up the fighting spirit to the game. I think with some rock music (a la DMC4) or some fast Hardcore Techno with traditional Japanese instruments (in my taste) would have been better. The only stage that sounds good is in Tokyo and going to the final boss. The music on Black/Sigma is way better than this. So prepare a USB with all the music you love and plug it there, because you will need it. Ill say it in advance, the music (especially with lyrics) might interfere with the dialogue so finish the game first and then plug the music
its cool with me but I know to others it might piss you off.
The SFX is beautiful, you hear the metal go through the skin as you decapitate someone. When you burn a poor soul you also here a little crisp going around plus the agonizing scream. The sound really synchronizes with every move you do and well the sound of the water splash is also nice. Excellent work on the SFX!
Music score in my book 5/10. Yikes. The Sound Effects [SFX] is a 10/10!
The StoryI can say is that what was happening throughout the game was slightly predictable. Hayabusa does a few more things than in the videos from Black/Sigma, but all are in video movies, no pretty CGs at the moment. So they did a DMC4 movie mode in this game. Hayabusa speaks, but only when its necessary, something that is in-character and it was to be expected. Sonia is Hayabusas backup, that is all I have to say about her. But other than just annihilating poor innocent Black Spider Ninja Clan goons you save the world before bedtime. This is a game to kill and decapitate ppl, dont expect something out of the ordinary. Also the ENDING SUCKS! Talk about Ninja Ryukenden ending all over again. I shall speak no more.
The story
well
snap 6/10. (Some in-game movies where just AWESOME! So movies get like 8/10 for me)
The Characters and BossesHayabusa can kill you with a paperclip NEED I SAY MORE! Hideyuki Hori as Hayabusas Seiyu 4EVAH! English voice actor SUCKS.
I completely dislike Sonias Japanese Seiyu. In English she sounds better. She helps, but bleh, she is eye candy for the men anyways.
The Mid-Bosses and Bosses are awesome! The easy one was the lightning retard Alexei. The fish face bastard killed me 5 times and damn that water lockness monster. Be warned about the turtle boss!!!

I loved the idea that I fought Genshing again and without saves or warning I fight yet ANOTHER boss. Talk about intense!!!
Genshing is a very awesome Shinobi wannabe.

He wield an Archfiend sword that surprisingly looks like Hotsumas Akujiki, so yeah
even the suit looks like Hotsumas. But a very fresh look, the guy kicks your ass and that my friend is awesome. Joe Hayabusa (its official, no more Ken like I used to know him) was also a fresh look.
There is some humor involved, although dark. Each dead Spider Ninja that you see has a scroll that you collect (like in Ninja Gaiden), but this time the ninjas talk about their failures with the techniques you have and have yet to master. I laughed because I wasnt expecting such details. That surprised me.
Characters overall are fresh out of the oven (except Sonia
another
bigboobedblondrachelcopypaste its a 9/10 outta me!
Bosses. What will the hero do without them. Here the bosses are no pushovers, (nether the goons) so be prepared for long fights and after you finish be advise you will have no rest and end on another fight before you even noticed. You put the controller down and you are dead. Its very intense and it pumps you to keep going. Also, what really surprised me is that not all bosses are susceptible to the melee weapons, some have to be by just dodging and using the Fiends Bane Bow and Arrows. I wasnt expecting that, and that was AMAZINGLY AWESOME!
Bosses are 9/10, some of them are very - VERY motherfing annoying as sin!
Game play and Weapons Ryuken, Kusari-gama, Falcons talons, Dragon Fang and Tiger Claw, Scythe, tonfas, Vigoorian Flair, Lunar, Archfiend Katana, need I say more? I mean, its all the weaponry a Ninja needs. The variety in the combos is outstanding. There are even combos that you will never do unless you practice by yourself and do all of them by looking at the combo menus, but the cheer magnitude of the combos and special attacks are endless. And when they get to level three enemies watch out! The weapon are what make the game play super fun and fast paced (and the number one reason of the camera

roblem

. Each weapon has its unique way of dismembering the opponents that stand before you and even the after battle weapon clean up are unique for every weapon. Vigoorian Flair has an incredible update, it makes the one in NGB like a baby. I had the feel on Indiana Jones cause you collect Cristal Skulls instead of scarabs. 30 to be precise and I own 29. Some are well hidden, others are in plain sight and others are that you look and say How the hell do I reach there?!. Its very entertaining. My favorite weapon is the Kusari-gama, it could get slow on some attack points but DAMN Im in LOVE. Im starting again in the re-run mode on Acolyte and starting with lvl 3 is just a massacre! I love it!
Weapons and Game Play definitely have a 10/10!
DifficultySadly only 4 difficulty levels, butch check this out. Its official and this is what I have discovered, those who say otherwise keep it to yourselves.

Acolyte Mode Is
NOT Easy or Normal. This is a Hard level.
Warrior Mode This is Very Hard.
Mentor Mode -

MASTER NINJA!
Master Ninja Mode More like
Hayabusa must Die mode.
The differences in difficulty can be seen and felt. I started on Warrior blind as a bat and well I got what I asked for; pain and utter humiliation.

I went to the hardcore cause, lets face it, as a veteran of the game I thought I had it under my thumb. This game proved otherwise. Im was stuck in Warrior on Chap12 and I HAD to start on Acolyte cause it was frustrating. Imagine that. This is not for the faint of heart or any rookies that had NEVER touched Ninja Gaiden (or Ninja Ryukenden) in their lives! If you are up to the challenge and have strong guts and patience then pick up this game. If not, search the videos on YouTube or watch from a friend cause the game will not be for you but play it anyways.

Difficulty is plain 10/10.
AchievementsVery fair and somewhat insane. I mean achieve 1,000 hit combo? I already did 167! But impossible is a matter of perspective so I technically know a perfect place for those 1,000 hit combo nyak nyak. The other insane achievements are that you must finish the game with EVRY WEAPON, but you cant change it during gameplay. I have started with the Kusari-gama and I havent even touched the other weapons (even if they are ALL at full lvl) now THIS is the REAL challenge of NGII. Something unexpected and totally awesome. Secret achievements are on the go to, but that is found on Gamefaqs.
Hayabusas SuitsI got the Blood Red suit
same black suit but with gold and
erm red. I have yet to see the other suit you unlock and the ones that you supposedly download. So this needs an update.
OverallDont start talking and comparing this game if you havent played it (nor compare it to NGB if you have) cause this is completely different from what NGB was based. The combos and weapons make this game amazing and I just cant hide how pumped and hyped I am to keep playing and to break records. I finished Acolyte in Master Ninja rank and I have still to master the weapons and find a damned skull. If you love blood, gore and violence pick this game up. Regardless that you are a fan or not. This is a game to have on the Xbox360 collection.

When all else fails, read instructions.
