:bulletred: My carpal tunnel hurts like fuck, now I understand the fifth probable reason why I sold my soul and bought a 300 dollar tablet: the mouse is an evil little thing. I actually wanted to mess around with Illustrator in the first place so I drew something easy and sickly adorable so Zero was among the list. I chibitized him and I threw him in. This is the result. I was going for gradient effects and mesh colors and crap but I gave up quickly.

TOOLS: Drawn in PhotoshopCS3 with a Tablet. Colored and cleaned in IllustratorCS3 with a fucking mouse: Tablet + Illustrator = intolerable amounts of PAIN. Oh and before you mention it, I didn’t use the LiveTrace thing – THAT TOOL IS FOR IMBECILES and it’s CHEAP (in my opinion anyways). Since I’m a retard with Illust it took me HOURS and it has layers like hell. I think I broke my layer record with this sonofa…. :faint:

Now that I’m done – it’s off to homework. :evillaugh:.......:cries:

LiveTrace isn't that much of a pansy move. I think it just depends on the style of work you are doing. For this, it's good you decided to manually trace your drawing. As for other drawings that want to retain their line quality, it's good to use live trace to see what effect it'll give instead of tracing every line as a shape--it's more of a time saver than anything else. But you're right, if someone just uses LiveTrace all the time, they're just being cheap.

Yes, vector graphics programs (2D and/or 3D) should be almost exclusively used with a mouse. Though I never tried it, I don't think a tablet would be a smart choice with dealing in that kind of art. Unless, it's more of a fluid-based program, like digital sculpting or something.

One minor note (I don't know if you were aware of this or not), the background should be flipped horizontally to give that "Z" shape so it would match his name, though I know this will counteract with the flow of his hair--Unless it's some kind of logo I'm not aware of... Probably is anyway, heheh. Anyway, great job on this piece and keep it up!
